Porsche 911 RS Replica
Description
While the fabled 1973 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 is out of the financial reach of most mere mortals, slightly later cars are still extremely good value, offering better drivability and lower maintenance costs, while still giving that magical Porsche RS experience. And of course the later cars have the still more powerful and less ‘nervous’ 3.0 litre engine fitted along with the durable 915 gearbox, with its more conventionally placed first gear position.
The 3.0 litre engine was fitted to the RSR models, along with a flat ‘whale tail’ spoiler in place of the previous ‘ducktail’ unit, for the 1974 IROC Championship (which started in Dec. In 1974, Porsche created the RS 3.0. The chassis was largely similar to that of the 1973 RSR and
the brake system was from the Porsche 917. The use of thinner metal plate panels and a spartan interior enabled its weight to be reduced to around 900 kg (1984 lbs.).
The RSR 3.0 was sold to racing teams and scored wins in several major sports car races of the mid-1970s. Also, a prototype RSR Turbo (with 2.1 L engine due to a 1.4x equivalency formula) came second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1974 and won several major races, a significant event in that its engine would form the basis of many future Porsche attempts in sports.
So, the modification and customisation of Porsches has a long and noble history and the car we offer here continues that fine tradition. It is a 1976 Porsche 911 RS Coupé replica in very good mechanical and cosmetic condition, including an excellent interior, with a full complement of working instruments.
The former owner, a collector who hails from Denmark, has had the car since January 2012, and he undertook an extensive restoration in 2014, finishing the car to a very high standard.
This RS was built to meet motorsport homologation requirements and compared to a standard 911S, it has a larger engine with fuel injection, and revised and stiffened suspension. It has a “ducktail” rear spoiler, larger brakes, wider rear wheels, and rear wings.
The vendor reports that it starts, goes and stops extremely well, and the paintwork is in the same excellent condition as when it was restored.Located in Denmark

If two of more users place identical bids, the bid that was placed first takes precedence, and this includes proxy bids.
Another bidder placed an automatic proxy bid greater or equal to the bid you have just placed. You will need to bid again to stand a chance of winning.
