1981 Lotus Esprit S3
Description
1981 Lotus Esprit S3
Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaros the S3 Esprit was introduced in the spring of 1981 improving on the previous S1, S2 and S2.2 models by combining the chassis and running gear of the Turbo model
with the normally aspirated 2.2 litre engine, therefore making the car tougher and more reliable.
The charisma of this car is its Formula 1 roots with its low sleek appearance, driving experience, performance and handling.
This is a rare original example of the classic mid-engine sports car from the world famous British F1 car manufacture.
Along with its BBS/Mahle wheels, impressive Calypso Red paintwork and typical 80’s Black half leather and Velour interior, it frequently turns heads!
The current owner has cherished this Esprit since 1988 and has always sought to keep it as original as possible, travelling many trouble-free miles in her.
At present it is stored in a dehumidified facility with its battery on constant trickle charge. Previously it has been covered and garaged so the outside paintwork and bodywork is in good order with a great lustre (especially for a car of this age).
On the rear bumper there is some flaking of the black paintwork around the Lotus embossed lettering, there is also some slight corrosion on the BBS/Mahle wheels which would benefit from a re-spray, although the wheels are generally in good condition.
It used to have an original Lotus electric aerial which had to be replaced with a manual version as this type of aerial is no longer available (the broken aerial is supplied with the car and can be repaired).
She had a major engine and ancillary equipment overhaul in 2017*, with less than 1000 miles clocked up since then.
With the driving position low and the instrument binnacle wrapping around the steering position you can certainly feel its F1 heritage.
As a classic this supercar will compliment a person who is enthusiastic and in return it will provide an enormous amount of fun and pleasure.

By setting a proxy bid, the system will automatically bid on your behalf to maintain your position as the highest bidder, up to your proxy bid amount. If you are outbid, you will be notified via email so you can opt to increase your bid if you so choose.
If two of more users place identical bids, the bid that was placed first takes precedence, and this includes proxy bids.
Another bidder placed an automatic proxy bid greater or equal to the bid you have just placed. You will need to bid again to stand a chance of winning.
